Students will respond to a unique writing prompt for 4 days of each week and receive feedback on all of their work including content formation, paragraph organization, and general line by line editing. Students will receive individual coaching on how to improve their work and will submit a revision for one of their prompt responses each week. Daily prompt responses are expected to take approximately 15-20 minutes per day.

Writing the Short Story is an introduction of the basics in creative writing. Students will learn by reading, learning techniques, and practicing their new skills. The elements of successful story writing will be taught individually including characterization, setting, plot, dialogue, and more! By understanding how a short story is constructed, students will become more proficient in their reading and writing skills as they write their very own short story.

Students will develop a strong foundation for the art of creative writing. They will explore a variety of figurative language writing techniques including alliteration, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, paradox and more as they stretch their imagination and delve into the artistic world of writing.
